Bangladeshi Islamists threaten violence if Supreme Court drops Islam as the country's main religion
Thousands of Muslims rallied in Bangladesh's capital on Friday to denounce a court petition seeking to remove Islam as the country's official state religion.
About 3,000 Muslims protested outside the national mosque in Dhaka against the petition, filed by a group of prominent citizens, which is to be taken up by the High Court on Sunday.
The Hifazat-e-Islam Bangladesh group called for a mass strike on Friday, warning that "Millions of Muslims will come out of mosques against the Supreme Court” and punish the judges. The Islamic fundamentalist group Hifazat-e-Islam Bangladesh has threatened retaliation and a general strike if the Supreme Court seriously considers dropping Islam as the state religion.
The judges are currently holding public hearings to decide whether to repeal the Eighth Amendment of the Constitution, which makes Islam the state religion.

“Bangladesh is a country where 92 per cent of the people are Muslim. If anybody removes our religion from the constitution, we shall oppose them. If the government and the Supreme Court do it, they will offend our religious sentiment,” said the Hifazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Secretary Azizul Haque Islamabadi. Huge mass protest and people will follow with dire consequences."We are here to give a message to authorities that we will not tolerate any move to cancel Islam as state religion," said Abdur Rahim, a participant. "We will resist such moves at any cost."
The judges are currently holding public hearings to decide whether to repeal the Eighth Amendment of the Constitution, which makes Islam the state religion.
“We abide by the court, but we hope it will not take any decision which will force religious people to take to the streets and cause chaos in the country,” Islamabadi noted.Military dictator H.M. Ershad declared Islam the state religion in 1988 to win support during a campaign by major political parties to oust him from power. He resigned amid large protests in 1990.

Late Koumate Monique's voice heard on a street in London via UK-based Cameroonians (photos)
Yesterday March 24th 2016, Cameroonians in England rallied together at 3:00pm in front of the Cameroon Embassy in London to express their dissatisfaction and disgruntlement over the poor state of health care in the country. This poor health care recently led to the death of Monique Koumate and her twins at the Lanquantini hospital in Douala.
This peaceful protest was organised by Dr Gabriel Nkwelle, Emmanuel Nkemta, Brice Nintcheu, Vera Fonjun, Atte Fri, Dr Nguh Santos and Daniel Assako. It should be stressed here that the protest was purely on humanitarian basis and had no political undertones. It could happen to anyone. It was a crowd that demanded for free health care for all irrespective of sex, religion, tribe or political affiliation. They also demanded that saving lives should be more important than money in all circumstances and for the immediate resignation of the minister of health and the DG of Lanquantini hospital.
Some of the organisers spoke in front of the door of the embassy, others spoke a little bit further away from the embassy. They had posters and banners that sent clear messages to unlookers and to the Cameroon government. It must be stated here that the crowd was not impressive as a lot of women didn't show up despite the fact that the fight was for a fellow woman. They finally stressed that pregnant women should receive a lot of attention in hospital as they are the beares of life. Their calls for the ambassador to come out and talk to them went on deaf ears as he didn't move a muscle from his prestigious seat.
The memorandum they wrote and signed was rejected by the embassy. There was the presence of some police officers to ensure decorum. The peaceful protest lasted for about one hour, everything went as planned and they vacated the premises around 4:30 pm with the joy of having fulfilled their social responsibility to speak up in the face of injustice. They pray that the change they seek will come sooner than later. God bless Cameroon. Rest in peace Monique and her twins.
Photos: Couple jailed for a total of 25 years for attacking a man with acid
Two people were yesterday, March 24, jailed for a total of 25 years in connection with an incident where a man had acid thrown in his face.
Following an eight day trial at Basildon Crown Court, Ashley Russell, 29 of Sunnedon, Basildon and Christina Storey, 31 of Studland Avenue, Wickford were found guilty of throwing a corrosive liquid with intent to do great bodily harm during the incident which happened in Kingsmere, Thundersley on June 3 2014.
Russell was sentenced to 17 years in prison and Storey to 8 years.
The court heard that Russell and Storey followed Darren Pidgeon as he drove his car through Thundersley. When the cars both stopped in a dead end, Russell approached Darren's car, squirted acid in his face and punched him before getting back in the car which was driven off by Storey.
The incident left Darren with serious and life changing injuries.

This has been a long and difficult investigation for Darren and his family and I hope that this verdict can provide them with an element of closure and the knowledge that justice has been done. It should also send a message to anyone considering carrying out this type of crime that they will be found and put before the courts."

Popular Pastor Dies After Being Bitten by His Own Snake While Performing Miracle
A pastor known for performing controversial miracles has allegedly been killed by his own cobra while performing miracles.
The controversial South African Prophet who made his followers eat snakes in his church saying that he had turned them into a chocolate just like Jesus did with water and wine in the bible is now reportedly dead after being bitten by a cobra he was using for another round of miracles in his Ministry.
The South African prophet rose to international fame in just weeks after he rode his congregants like donkeys, made them strip n*ked in church, eat braids, paper, rocks, and dirt. He shocked the entire world when he brought live snakes to a service, and declared that those who believed in the power of Jesus and had faith could eat the venomous snakes and God would turn them to chocolate.
Congregants who munched on the animals confirmed that the snakes indeed tasted like chocolate to them. The prophet quickly became known as the ‘Snake Pastor’ in South Africa, where gained notoriety alongside popularity.
In no time however, he found himself in huge trouble with the law. The South African Society for Prevention of Cruelty and Protection to Animals (SPCA) laid criminal charges against him for cruelty to animals. They argued that the manner in which the animals were killed as cruel, and painful. Eating of animals alive is considered criminal in South Africa.
The Association that controls churches in South Africa quickly deregistered his church for malpractice, and they ordered him to report to a disciplinary hearing. The prophet however refused to attend, forcing the association to consider having court order mandate him to attend.
Political activists from the Economic Freedom Fighters then stormed his church and destroyed his tent, and several other material. However that move solicited a strong response backing the prophet, as freedom of religion is protected in the constitution of South Africa.
The EFF responded by claiming it was rogue youths with no association to the party who had orchestrated the damage. However the latest development will bring shock waves to the country. South African Tabloid, iMzansi reported that the ‘Snake Pastor’ had died.
According to the publication, Soshanguve Police revealed that on Tuesday night, Penuel Mnguni, 24, of the End Times Disciples Ministries in Soshanguve was handling a snake during a Sunday service at a Pentecostal church in Jenson.
Unnamed authorities said Prophet Mnguni was bitten on his left arm and refused medical treatment thereafter. Reports are that Mnguni went to his brother’s home, where he later died. The local coroner pronounced him dead. Members of the church declined comment but reports are that there will be no funeral as the they believe he will resurrect.
The Prophet’s gathering is now synonymous with despicable. A few days ago, a lady Bishop in the church walked up to the Pastor who was preaching, and grabbed his reproductive organs during live service.
Dreaded Boko Haram Leader, Shekau Predicts Groups End in New Video
Dreaded Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau has been caught on camera as he predicts his own end with the following words 'for me the end has come'.
Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau
Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau appeared on video for the first time in more than a year on Thursday, rejecting rumours about his death but appearing to signal his time in charge of the Nigerian jihadist group may be coming to an end.
In a message that contained none of the defiant bluster, taunts and denunciation of political leaders of previous videos and will likely be interpreted as an admission of defeat, the dejected-looking Shekau declared in the Hausa language: “For me the end has come”.
“This is a message of greeting and joy for you to see my face,” said Shekau, who in March 2015 pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group in an audio message.
“This is my desire: that whoever sees this will hear nothing but greetings between me and you. Only Allah knows the rest, as you believed (and) as you submitted. For me the end has come.
“This is only the message I want to send to you for you to understand that this is certainly I. This is why I did this.
“May Allah protect us so that no hypocrite stands between us. May Allah protect us from the devil so that he doesn’t achieve his evil among us.
“May Allah protect us and may we stand firm on the path of Allah. I thank my creator.”
A military source in the Borno State capital, Maiduguri, told AFP: “Watching Shekau in this video, the message is clear: the game is over.
“For this arrogant and boastful terrorist to speak in such a meek and subdued tone shows he has been trounced beyond his imagination.
“It is farewell video. He is just telling his fighters they should forget their illusionary Islamic state and lay down their arms.
“He knows that with the current advance of the Nigerian military our troops will soon reach him”.
Unlike messages from the Islamists at the end of 2014 and start of 2015, which were slickly edited and closely resembled those of the Islamic State group, the new video was poorly shot.
It was also posted on YouTube rather than via Twitter accounts linked to IS supporters and websites used by fellow jihadists, which had become Boko Haram’s preferred medium of communication.
The bearded Shekau, who looked thin, spoke to his followers in front of a lime green background, with the Boko Haram black flag superimposed in crude graphics.
He also makes no mention of the Islamic State or Islamic State in West Africa province (ISWAP) and uses the group’s original name “Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad” or “People committed to the propagation of the Prophet’s teachings and jihad”.
There was no indication of when or where the video was shot and Nigeria’s military said it was trying to determine its authenticity.
“We are aware of the video but we are subjecting it to thorough forensic investigation,” they said in a statement.
In the video, Shekau referred in the past tense to the Borno State town of Gwoza, which Boko Haram overran in mid-2014 and declared a caliphate, referring to it as “Darussalam” or “Home of Peace”.
The town was later retaken in a military counter-offensive that has seen Boko Haram-controlled towns, villages and territory seized back over the last year.
Boko Haram supply lines are said to have been squeezed, preventing them sourcing fuel for hit-and-run attacks and conventional fighting, although suicide bombings persist.
There have also been reports of fighters surrendering for lack of food. Shekau himself is said to be in hiding in the Sambisa Forest area of Borno state, currently targeted by the military.
Nigeria has claimed several times that Shekau has been killed since the start of the deadly insurgency responsible for at least 17,000 deaths since 2009, only for him to reappear in video messages.
The military believes several lookalikes have since stood in for him.

Supreme Court: Marafa Hamidou Yaya, Yves Fotso Appeal Adjourned
The first appeal hearing in the trial of Marafa Hamidou Yaya, former Secretary General at the Presidency, Yves Michel Fotso, former General Manager of the defunct national carrier, Cameroon Airlines, Camair, and several others, held at the Supreme Court in Yaounde on Tuesday, March 22, 2016. Marafa and Fotso were alongside others each sentenced to 25 years imprisonment on September 12, 2012, for embezzlement of about 21 Billion FCFA meant for the purchase of a presidential aircraft, the Bbjet 2.
Leading a seven-person panel of judges, the Chief Justice, Daniel Mekobe Sone, announced that the court received a letter from counsel to Yves Michel Fotso, seeking the adjournment of the matter. He advanced as reason the poor health of his client. Similarly, counsel to Marafa, Barrister Patrice Monthé, took the floor to also request that given his client’s poor health, he could not sit through the trial, though he was present in court.
Barrister Alice Nkom, another counsel to Marafa, later explained to Cameroon Tribune that their client has had a bout of malaria in the past three weeks. With no objection by the Advocate General and other lawyers to the requests, Chief Justice Daniel Mekobe Sone adjourned the trial to April 5, 2016, at 10 am.

An Open Letter to Cameroonians…
The following powerful and important open letter to Cameroonians is written Monique Kwachou. Read....
Dear fellow Cameroonian,
How are you? I hope fine, though I doubt it. I doubt it because I hear you grumbling all the time. One of my earliest memories is of family gathered at an Aunts house at Ecole de Poste, Yaoundé. It was a small two bedroom apartment with cold walls and a musty smell as a result of being built on the marshes. As we children sat on the grey concrete floors poorly covered with a tattered plastic carpet we listened to the adults grumbling about the president and the ruling party, CPDM, as the members marched in a parade televised. As groups marched with their right hand over their hearts and their left hands raised adoringly towards the president in salute, we heard the grownups speculate and mumble about how millions were being mismanaged; how this person or that was being bribed or bribing; how SDF should have won the ’92 elections; etc.
That memory has re-occurred in different houses with different Cameroonian relatives and why not, in different countries at different times of my life. The grumbling is always there; in a taxi or bus as we dodge crater-like pot-holes or stop to give some uniform-wearer (I don’t want to spoil the term title: police officer) a thousand francs note. It is there when salaries are delayed because of some technicality that has to be corrected only in some illusive office in Yaounde (and correction is not for free o!).There is grumbling when the latest shake down reveals that 20 billion had been embezzled (the money you shall never see), there is grumbling when’ concours’ are written registering 20.000 candidates for just 20 spots to be filled, there is grumbling when election time comes around and we see no change, there is grumbling in the church, there is grumbling at schools when teachers see their salaries and the size of their classes, when students are about to graduate and join the sea of unemployed, there is grumbling in the hair dressing salons and poisonneries (cold stores) when lights go off for days and there is no one to hold accountable. No one to query for the days of business services and goods lost. There is grumbling in the bars, almost always in the bars, over bottles of Guinness and 33 Export no matter the price per bottle….Till I came to the conclusion recently that my dear beloved Cameroonians, we have what one would call a “form of discontent”. We give the impression of displeasure but it is all a charade. A very inbred charade. For our actions show that we are content just the way we are. Now dear brother don’t get upset because the truth hurts. Let me prove my point eh? Let me show you how I know you are content, let me show you why…
I know you are content because you talk much but do nothing. And even when you do, it is not to solve/address the problem but to eat your own share of the national cake. Case in point; those who have set up one of the over 200 political parties in the opposition, who we hear nothing about till election year when they vie for “campaign allowances” never to be heard from again. I know you are content because you do not show up for elections, saying “after all what will change?” Well, nothing will if you don’t do something. I know you are content because you invest ten times the energy you would need to address your situation in Cameroon into the glorious pursuit for a foreign visa or blue passport…
I know you are content because you are ever ready and willing to bribe your way through the ‘concours’, the red tape in offices, the not having all car documents etc. and of course you expect a little “motivation” when it is your turn too.I know you are content because you ignore your history and as a result repeat it. I know you are content because rather than fighting for your own language not to be considered “les patois la” you learned to speak theirs…
I know you are content because you, yes you my neighbor who had grumbled about how “this man needs to step down” “this man is spending our money in France” “This man is a shame of a leader” after all that grumbling, I saw you run to the road when you heard his car was coming up from Mutengene. I watched you and many others who had grumbled and insulted that “shameful leader” I saw you people jump up and down in ecstasy waving your hands in the air and smiling. And not a hint of grumbling could be evidenced. It was as if you were not all the same grumblers, like you had forgotten or forgiven that which had disgruntled you, including the gendarme standing before us with tear gas and other weapons in his hands and belts ever ready to attack should we attempt to go too close.
I know you are content because for over 30 years the same person has ruled you and you have done nothing but talk behind his back then fawn over him with wishes of “many more years” and motions of support when put on the podium (Ah ah! You could at least say “no comment” than to do that about turn na).I know we are content because we don’t yearn for change as much as we yearn for a chance to be posted or given some title or the other which would grant us our own share of the national cake…then we do all the things we have formerly complained about.
I know you are content because you left from Tombel, Bafut palaces, Jakiri, Akwaya and Bakassi (even Bakassi oh!) to march past in parade before a man you had grumbled and complained about. You are definitely content because you even brought him gifts. Chiefs and Fons bowed low and carted heavy “symbols of their respect and admiration” till I was sure the foreigners in the grand stand were envious of the adulation.
I’m sure you are content because that is the impression you give the head of state whenever he takes time out of his busy jaunts and decides he cares enough to look. You hurriedly fix roads, forcefully repaint houses, build new structures with some money that was there but somehow not here.
Yes, you are content and Sister mine, I know why. I don’t blame you at all oh!Why would you not be content when landing a government matricule is the equivalent of winning the jackpot (to be paid in small monthly amounts of course)? As some say “You care you go work, you care you go play Solitaire you go still receive your 150K “ Why would you not be content when state University education is 50.000frs up to PhD! (we have never cared to check who is doing the subsidization) and then that same 50.000frs is being given back at the end of the year, and we take oh! In fact we strike to take. Why would we not be content in a country where if someone steps on your toes (and you have enough money) you could always get the police to “handle them” (what poor man knows their rights enough to speak out)? Why would we not be content when there is always a way to bribe/pay out of a sticky situation, or into a better one?Why would we not be content with a president who stays in power for years on end when for us to hand over as president of harvest committee in church is a problem (we know the taste of power and like it just as much as any bottled drink)? Why would you not be content when our first lady represents us well, the majority of happy bleachers in our population and our president does what most of us would do if we were him? Why would we not be happy when there are two drinking bars for every church? Why would we not be happy when the performance of our football team is more of a priority and gets more analysis on the national news station than the annual budget?
Why would we not be happy when despite the tribalism and nepotism being as rampant as they are, they benefit us every once in a while… it is like playing Wheel of Fortune, you win, you lose… The fact is there are disadvantages in our underdevelopment. To whom little is given little is required.Of course we should be content, we don’t have the Boko Haram of our brother west of us in Nigeria (who somehow thrive despite the wahala), we do not have the starvation and malnutrition of our neighbors up in Tchad, and thank God we don’t have the gruel slaughtering of the C.A.R. We are content with good reason, we are too nonchalant to strive for better, and all too aware of the “worse” all around us to risk the passive peace that we enjoy…But my comrade, fellow Cameroonian in this letter I have only one thing to ask you: Please stop talking while eating. It is disgusting, it is unsightly and it is damn annoying. Why grumble with the same mouth you just used to give “motion for support”? What makes me say all this now you may wonder? Let me answer you.
This past week the president had an official visit to the southwest supposedly for the celebration of the reunification of Cameroon which happened 53 years ago. The week’s program included a debate as starters which casually outlined some parts of history and just as casually omitted some others. I don’t want to go through a history lesson here. But I will outline a few points just for thought;
1- On the 1st of January 1960 La Republique du Cameroun gained independence from France (Though our relations today say different. But that’s another story)
2- A year and a month later, British southern Cameroons held a plebiscite on the 11th of February to decide whether to join the Federal Republic of Nigeria as another state or return to their brothers and be one. They mostly chose the latter (despite E.M.L Endeley’s warnings)
3- A conference at Foumban later had a constitution drawn up for the Federal Republic of Cameroon where West Cameroon (Former British Southern Cameroon) and East Cameroon (Former La Republique)would each govern themselves. Their own resources and culture etc would remain theirs but of course under one federal leader: A president and Vice from each state respectively.
4- On the 1st of October 1961 as Nigeria gained independence so did Anglophone Cameroon. And on that day we re-unified with our brothers of La Republique.
5- Fast forward years of peace and relative prosperity later… Biafra occurs in Nigeria and scares our then president. He decides that a federation is too shaky - not consolidated enough - and he wants to ensure that the whole country remains “one” especially as oil has been “discovered” in the West. He cannot just break the constitution so he sacks his Vice President (an obstacle and easily replaceable one) and then organizes a referendum on the 20th of May 1972. On this day citizens all over the country are asked to choose if “They would want a United and Indivisible Cameroon?” (I’m sure most of them thought they already had that). It gets interesting … underneath that question (it is said) the options were “Yes or Oui” for bilingualism of course (read in your most sarcastic voice). So there was no way out and that is how we became the United Republic of Cameroon…
6- Some many years later after an attempted coup and without much ado or reason… our current president dropped the “united” such that what is now printed on our passports just reads “La Republique Du Cameroun”.
Now that you have those clearly outlined facts, let me query you on what exactly we celebrated this past week? Has our history not been distorted? Every year on the 1st of October a CRTV journalist proclaims another hooray to note La Republique’s anniversary of independence, but if you can recall on the 1st of October gendarmes swarm the roads of the Anglophone regions not permitting them to hoist flags or celebrate what was not only their independence day but as the President himself noted in his most recent speech THE REUNIFICATION DAY. Why is that day not our national day? Why do we rather celebrate a day as of 1972 on which most of the country was tricked? Why is 11th of February not recognized in the memory of the plebiscite but camouflaged under the cover of “youth day” (International Youth Day is celebrated on 12th of August)? Why are we finally celebrating our golden anniversary of reunification on the 20thof February, 2014? A day of NO historical consequence not to mention 3 years late! And then our leader casually quips “Better late than never” which reminds me of his “les Apprentis Sorciers” of 2008. But above all I want to ask my fellow Cameroonians why they allow it?
Why not show that you know your history, your right from your wrong? In the making of the reunification monument was any care given to incorporate symbols of our past? Heroes? Dates? Anything? This past week you we were given the opportunity to defend our own. To do something for ourselves and once again we did nothing but fawn at the person we deride on a daily basis. The president is beginning to look like someone with a country full of “fair-weather” friends. I do not blame him for a SINGLE flaw in this country because at the end of the day not only do we passively encourage it by doing nothing, we actively destroy ourselves. So dear brother, dear sister I appeal to you to SHUT UP and STOP THE GRUMBLING, stop complaining about this or that, because you are the problem, not the president. I have never seen the president stand on the road to collect a 500 FRS note as bribe. I have never seen the president go to an office to pay to have their child’s name added to a list. I have never seen the president at Soa with money striking a deal to “buy” results. I have never seen the president force a young university girl to sleep with him for a pass in a course. I have never seen the president discriminate between his girl and boy child as to who goes to school or who gets married. I have never seen the president sell the same land twice as some “royalty” do.
You know those “Christians” prone to say “satan made me do it” or “It is the work of the devil” when caught red-handed in crime? That is how you sound when you blame the President for the bad road in your quarter or the fact that you have not had electrical power for days on end. People (yourself included) are responsible for so much and fail to go to work on time, fail to do what they are supposed to and in their lack of functioning things fail. Don’t blame one man for what would not have happened if a 1000 of us cared for more than getting our own share of national cake! So dear brother/sister I write to you pleading. Please stop grumbling, you sound like a broken record.
Sincerely, the Youth Watching You…Check out more interesting articles on Monique's blog moniquemusings.blogspot.co.uk
Crazy!! See Donald Trump’s Reaction Private Pics Of His Wife Surfaces Online (Photo)
Donald Trump has threatened fellow Republican presidential candidate that he will have his pound of flesh back after half-N@.kke.d photo of his wife went viral online.
The race for the White House and Republican presidential nomination ticket has become a messy affair as N@.kke.d picture of Donald Trump’s wife emerged online in an advert used by a company supporting Ted Cruz (another Republican vying for the presidential ticket).
The photo was tweeted by British GQ.
British GQ tweeted N@.kke.d photo of Donald Trump’s wife with the Caption:- “Meet Melania Trump, Your Next First Lady”
The photograph of Melania came from a 2000 GQ photoshoot and shows her lying N@.kke.d on a fur blanket. The ad was created by a super PAC called Make America Awesome, made it plain that the advert was not sponsored by Cruz or his team. But, the photo was meant to put people against Trump as it showed the whole world the man’s almost n*de wife.
See what Trump Tweeted below:-
Trump was totally angry and called Cruz a liar in his tweet. He also tweeted: “No need to spill the beans, an image is worth a thousand words”. He threatened fellow Republican presidential candidate that he will have his pound of flesh back.
However, Ted Cruz has replied Trump in the most appropriate manner. He wrote on his twitter account: “Pic of your wife not from us. Donald, if you try to attack Heidi, you’re more of a coward than I thought. #classless”

"It will be decided tomorrow if an arrest warrant (charges) are brought against these people," he added.
A Frenchman was arrested during an anti-terror raid in the northern Paris suburb of Argenteuil over a planned terrorist attack which was in the 'advanced stages', according to French officials.
French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said the man detained could be part of a high level terror network that was planning another attack in France. He said: 'They planned to hit our country'.
Mr Cazeneuve said there was no confirmed link between the man they arrested in Paris and the attacks in Brussels. on Tuesday. He said the man had been under police surveillance for 'quite some time and that the arrest was the result of the dedicated work carried out over the last few weeks by intelligence services,'
He said the man was of French nationality and was 'involved in the plot at a high level' and was 'involved in a terrorist network that was ready to attack France.'

Russell Wilson says he won't have Ciara sign a prenup
27 year old Russell Wilson and 30 year old Ciara got engaged recently and will be getting married in the near future, but according to HollywoodLife.com, an insider told them that Russell said Ciara wont have to sign a pre-nup when they get married.
“Russell and Ciara aren’t going to have a prenup,”. “Even the thought of speaking such words would mean that they’re questioning their love for one another. A prenup is like a jinx. They’re not going into the marriage thinking that it won’t last. They’re diving into this full on and they don’t want bad energy clouding their marriage.”Some people think it's not a wise move on Russell's part but looking at their net worth online, Ciara is worth $17 million while Russell is worth $14 million. So their argument is really...baseless.
