Obama issues pardons, commutations

President Obama made Christmas-time commutations of 95 federal prisoners on Friday and issued pardons to two others, the White House announced.
Most of the commutations dealt with drug offenses, though the pardons involved counterfeiting and bank fraud.

Obama has now commuted the prison sentences of 184 people, surpassing the combined number of those granted by presidents Carter, Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Clinton, and George W. Bush (117), the White House said in a statement.

Friday's list included 40 people serving life sentences.

Obama has pledged to issue more pardons and commutations in 2016.

African Union says ready to send 5,000 peacekeepers to Burundi crisis

The African Union said on Friday it was preparing to send 5,000 peacekeepers to Burundi to protect civilians caught up in a growing crisis, for the first time using powers to deploy troops to a member country against its will.
Burundi dismissed the announcement, saying no foreign force would get in without permission. But its neighbours have grown increasingly alarmed about the violence in the central African state which the United Nations says is on the brink of civil war.

Tensions have been running particularly high since gunmen attacked military sites in the capital Bujumbura last week, unnerving a region where memories of the 1994 genocide in neighbouring Rwanda are still raw.

The African Union's Peace and Security Council said in a statement it had drawn up plans for the force - to be called MAPROBU - and had asked the U.N. Security Council to give it the final clearance it needed to get boots on the ground.

The U.N. Security Council has already been looking at ways to tackle the crisis, including sending in peacekeepers.
"(The AU body) decides that MAPROBU shall have an initial strength of up to 5,000 military personnel and police," as well as human rights observers and military experts, it added.
A diplomat told Reuters late on Thursday the resolution marked the first time the AU had decided to invoke its charter's Article 4, that gives the bloc the right to intervene in a member state "in respect of grave circumstances, namely: war crimes, genocide and crimes against humanity".

Burundi's government spokesman, Philippe Nzobonariba, said the force would not be allowed in without permission. "They can't invade a country if the latter is not informed and allow it," he said on state radio.

"It would be better if they go to those camps in Rwanda where troublemakers train," Nzobonariba added. The government has accused Rwanda of supporting rebels who are recruiting Burundian refugees - a charge Rwanda denies.

The United Nations says at least 400 people have been killed since April when President Pierre Nkurunziza's decision to seek a third term in office triggered protests and a failed coup.
Rights groups have reported violent clashes between protesters and authorities, gun attacks and detentions of government critics. The government denies responsibility for any rights abuses.
Hundreds of thousands have fled the worst violence to hit the country since it emerged from an ethnically charged civil war in 2005.

Demonstrators said the president's decision to stand in an election he eventually won broke constitutional term limits, while his supporters pointed to a court ruling allowing his bid.
Much of the latest violence appears to be along political divides. But diplomats fear a prolonged conflict could reopen old ethnic rifts.

The civil war pitted the army, which was at the time led by minority Tutsis, against rebel groups of the Hutu majority, including one led by Nkurunziza - an ethnic split mirrored in Rwanda.
The U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights accused Burundi's authorities on Thursday of dragging the country towards full-blown civil war and called for travel bans and asset freezes targeting key officials to try to halt the bloodshed.

High School football player killed shielding girls from gunfire

A high school football player was killed as he shielded three girls from gunfire as several men went on a shooting spree in Tennessee, police said Friday.

The shootings that killed Zaevion Dobson, 15, began Thursday night, said Knoxville Police Chief David Rausch. The first person shot was Lisa Perry, 46, who was inside her apartment at the time.She is expected to survive.

Rausch said Perry's 23-year-old son, Brandon Perry, and several other men then drove to the neighborhood where Dobson lived and "randomly fired multiple times."

The girls shielded by Dobson were not hurt, he said.

Brandon Perry was later found to have been shot after he crashed a car into another apartment. He died from his injuries on Friday morning. Two other men who fled from the crash were arrested, though one was later released after being questioned.

"These cowardly and senseless acts of violence must stop," Rausch said. "We should be preparing to celebrate the Christmas holiday, but now we have two men who are dead."

Rausch said investigators think the shootings are gang-related, but he said there didn't appear to be a motive to target Dobson.

"Unfortunately, they picked a random group of young men and women who were just hanging out and trying to prepare to celebrate the holiday," he said.

Dobson's brother Zach told WBIR-TV that he was among the group sitting on a porch when they saw the men walking up to them.

"Why would you shoot at random bystanders for nothing? We were just sitting there chilling," Dobson said. "Zae, he was an awesome kid, awesome brother. Just know that I miss him. I miss my brother."

Dobson was a sophomore at Fulton High School in northern Knoxville. The school brought in counselors to speak to students taking makeup tests Friday morning.

"He was really one of our success stories," said Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero. "Involved in sports, a mentee of one of our organizations in town. But still he falls victim to this."

Rob Black, the coach of the Fulton football team, called Dobson a "fine, fine young man."

6. Poor perception about Love

Some guys lack purpose, mission and vision in life that planning seems to be like a mission impossible for them. Their mentality has been wired awkwardly that the perception they have about relationship is just to sex, and when a lady denies them of it, they will say she doesn’t love them.

7. Being too proud to apologize

Guys who blame people for their misfortune and wrongdoings are nothing but dumb skill. They feel like they are doing a lady a favour by dating her. Even when they offend their supposed girlfriend, they will always expect her to apologize to them. These kind of guys have no business being in relationship at all.

8. Poor religious life

Some dudes can spend the night at club house but make dem spend ordinary one hour for church or mosque, na punishment.. There always seems to be so many recognizable signs that you were going to be cheated on that you completely missed BEFORE someone cheats on you. The deceitful act of cheating carries harsh consequences and even more so, years worth of pain and anger for the person being cheated on. 10. She Accuses You Of Cheating

Oftentimes, the people who accuse other people of cheating are really insecure people or people who are actually cheating and have become increasingly paranoid that they will get caught (so they start pointing the finger before someone points it at them).
