Playboy's first non-nude edition

In October, the magazine announced its plans to cover up its centerfolds as part of a redesign aimed at attracting millennials.
With the Snapchat style pictures in the new issue, Playboy is aiming to meet their target audience on the social media platforms they prefer while tapping into sexting culture.
The March issue also features photos of model Myla Dalbesio, which she took of herself.
While the new issue does include naked women, they are posing "strategically" to avoid revealing full-on nudity the magazine embraced in the past, The New York Times reported.

"That battle has been fought and won," Flanders told the newspaper. "You're now one click away from every sex act imaginable for free."
The new look is similar to Playboy's digital strategy over the last few years. In 2013, the Playboy app was touted as a more work-friendly version of the magazine with "best articles" and non-nude images. Likewise, a 2015 app implemented the same strategy with a mobile-first focus on the magazine's written content.

When Playboy.com re-launched sans nudity in 2015, the publication said in a statement that "tens of millions of readers" continued to come to the "non-nude website and app every month for, yes, photos of beautiful women, but also for articles and videos from our humor, sex and culture ... sections."

Photos: 100 years of British Vogue

In 1916, the British edition of Vogue was brought into the world by Condé Montrose Nast — an Anglophile American and the eponymous founder of the now world-famous publishing house. The publication of a British edition of Vogue was, however, met with a certain reluctance by American Vogue, which, in the hope of bolstering its income by attracting advertising from British companies, had been distributed in affluent boroughs of London since 1912.

100 years later, it's still one of the most popular magazines in the world. Vogue is a mass market magazine and it can never be as far out as more trendy rivals.

Woman suspects a man keeps raping her goats, calls the police

Police are investigating an 'elusive goat rapist ' after a woman claims her animals are being assaulted.
Sharon Cruz-Pecina is convinced a man is returning to her property to have sex with her three pets and is calling for cops to arrest him.
She says she bought the goats five years ago because her husband is lactose intolerant but is not affected by goat milk.

Sharon, from Caryville, Florida, told local TV news station WJHG that she believes the man has been sexually assaulting her pets since last summer.
She said:
"He's been attacking them and raping them. "I'm not jumping to conclusions."
Last April, Sharon was housing her goats about a mile away from her home when a neighbour spotted and identified a man lingering in the area.

Sharon said that same man was charged in 2014 with engaging in sexual activity with an animal.
"There is numerous people within the mile, two miles of this guy's home who've had problems of him attacking their goats," she said to the news channel.
She also has photographic evidence the goats have been assaulted.
"I have had the officers out here a few times. I didn't call again because I don't think they are taking me seriously," she explained.
Sharon said she has tried to catch the suspect herself and has even had her animals tested and is waiting on the DNA results.
"We have been trying to catch him on video but he seems very elusive," she explained.
Sharon hopes the sheriff's department catches the suspect before he does more damage.
"He's not normal. He needs help and the law needs to arrest him," she said, "And get him the help he needs."
She added: "Please leave my goats alone, please repent, please turn yourself in."
Washington County Sheriff's Office confirmed to local media an investigation is under way.

A spokesman told NewsChannel7: "Washington County Sheriff's office has received a complaint from Ms. Sharon Anne Cruz-Pecina.
"This is an open case at this time. "We are investigating this case as diligently and as thoroughly as we would any criminal investigation."
In Florida, a bill making sex with an animal a felony failed in 2008.
Lawmakers finally passed a bill making it a misdemeanour in 2011, but it took them at least three tries to make it law.

Somalia plane explosion likely caused by a bomb

The explosion that forced a Somali plane to make an emergency landing shortly after takeoff appears to have been caused by a bomb, NBC News has learned.
"It is likely this was a bomb attack," a high-ranking diplomat with knowledge of the investigation said Thursday.
That was echoed by Daallo Airlines chief Mohammed Ibrahim Yassin, who said he has been in touch with investigators probing Tuesday's apparent aerial attack.
"There's a residue, they're saying, of explosives," Yassin said in an interview with The Associated Press. "But they cannot really make 100 percent that it's a bomb."
It will be several more days before the initial findings are released, he said.

So far, no terrorist group have claimed credit for the blast. But Somalia has been waging a long-running battle with the terrorist group al Shabab, which is allied with al Qaeda.
Meanwhile, the Somalis identified the passenger who was killed after he was blown out of the plane by the blast as Abdullahi Abdisalam Borleh, 55.

A high ranking intelligence officer with the Somali government told NBC News that Borleh is not believed to have been the bomber.
His body was found in the town of Jowhar which about 56 miles north of Mogadishu and the airport from which the Airbus A 321 with 74 passengers on board took off, officials said.

The jetliner was had only climbed to an elevation of 12,000 to 14,000 feet when the blast rocked the plane just minutes after it took off from Mogadishu International Airport. Had it been higher, the difference in pressure would likely have been more devastating.

Capt. Vladimir Vodopivec, the pilot, managed to turn the plane around and bring it safely back to the airport.

Tortured Italian student died 'slow death': Egypt official

The body of an Italian graduate student who disappeared last month has been found with multiple stab wounds, cigarette burns and other signs of torture and a "slow death" on a roadside on the outskirts of Cairo, an Egyptian prosecutor said Thursday.

Giulio Regeni, a 28-year-old Cambridge University PhD candidate who had been researching labor rights in Egypt, went missing on Jan. 25, the fifth anniversary of the popular uprising that toppled longtime autocrat Hosni Mubarak. His body was found Wednesday.

News of the slaying and evidence of torture spurred diplomatic tensions. An Italian government delegation cut short a visit to Cairo and Italy summoned the Egyptian ambassador in Rome, calling for a full investigation with participation by Italian experts.
Regeni's disappearance came at a time when Egyptian officials and media have often depicted foreigners as plotting against Egypt — and particularly as seeking to foment unrest surrounding the Jan. 25 anniversary. In the days leading up to the anniversary, police were on high alert, conducting sweeps aimed at preventing any possible protest. Pro-democracy activists were arrested and some foreigners whose visas had expired were deported.
Egypt is also battling an insurgency by militants who have sworn allegiance to the Islamic State group. The militants are mainly active in the Sinai Peninsula but have also carried out attacks in Cairo and elsewhere, including kidnapping and beheading a Croatian oil worker last year and setting off a bomb outside the Italian consulate in Cairo.
On Thursday, Egyptian media accused "evil hands" of orchestrating Regeni's killing to damage Egyptian-Italian relations. The term is usually used to refer to Islamists, who have been targeted by a ferocious crackdown since the 2013 military ouster of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi. Authorities justify the campaign by pointing to the fight against the militants, who have killed hundreds of policemen and soldiers over the past four years.
The Italian media pointed fingers at the Egyptian security forces.
A business daily, Il Sole 24 Ore, said "the strong suspicion" was that Regeni was "killed by Egypt ... by the system, by the security apparatus."
Regeni had been in Egypt since September conducting research on workers and labor rights — a sensitive topic, since disgruntled workers were among the forces in the 2011 anti-Mubarak uprising and authorities still worry about worker discontent.
The left-wing Italian newspaper il Manifesto said Regeni had been writing for it about labor issues, signing his articles under a pseudonym.
"I imagine it was for security because the articles were about workers and unions," said foreign desk editor Simone Pieranni. "It's clear that when you speak about social rights and workers' rights in Egypt you are implicitly denouncing the lack of freedom."
Pieranni said the newspaper would publish a final piece critical of the lack of press and other freedoms in Egypt under Regeni's own name on Friday.
Regeni was last seen on Jan. 25 heading from his apartment to meet a friend in downtown Cairo. He entered the subway, which was packed with security personnel scanning bags and checking commuter's IDs.
In the days following his disappearance, friends and colleagues launched a search, circulating Regeni's picture widely on social media.
His body was found Wednesday in an empty lot along a highway in the 6th of October suburb on Cairo's western outskirts. He was identified by his Egyptian roommate, said prosecutor Ahmed Nagi, who heads the investigation team in the case.
"All of his body, including his face" had bruises, cuts from stabbings and burns from cigarettes, Nagi said, adding Regeni appeared to have suffered a "slow death."
Later Thursday, Nagi said an autopsy showed the cause of death was a brain hemorrhage. Asked about possible police involvement, he said: "We don't rule out any possibility."
Earlier, the deputy head of criminal investigations in Cairo's twin province of Giza, Alaa Azmi, had cited initial findings he said indicated Regeni was killed in a car accident.
For years, rights groups have accused Egyptian police of regularly torturing detainees. Over the past year, they have also accused them of using "forced disappearances" — detaining suspected activists or Islamists in secret without reporting their arrest.
The Egyptian Association for Rights and Freedoms documented 314 cases of forced disappearances in 2015, said lawyer Halem Henish. Most later turned up in prison, but at least five were found at the morgue, including one with signs of torture like burns and electric shocks.
He said the group has documented 35 disappearances so far in 2016, including at least two of whom died.
Meanwhile, in Regeni's hometown of Fiumicello in northeastern Italy, townspeople were "destroyed" by the news of his death, said Mayor Ennio Scridel. The town of 5,000 declared Sunday a day of mourning.
"If you go into a bar, you see dark faces, silences, looks that let escape all the sadness of a small community like ours," Scridel told Sky Tg24. He described Regeni as "an extraordinary person, who comes from a good family."
News of Regeni's death prompted Italy's economic development minister, Federica Guidi, to cut short a visit to Cairo and head home. Guidi had been heading a delegation of 60 business people to help companies set up business in Egypt.
Italian Premier Matteo Renzi spoke with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi by telephone and pledged to coordinate efforts with Italian authorities to "unravel the mystery" surrounding Regini's death, el-Sissi's office said.
The Italian news agency ANSA said a seven-person team of Italian and Interpol investigators was heading to Cairo on Friday to participate in the inquiry.
Egyptian authorities have come under criticism for lack of transparency in several investigations, particularly the Oct. 31 crash of a Russian passenger jet over the Sinai Peninsula and the September killing of eight Mexican tourists and four Egyptian guides by a security forces helicopter that opened fire on their desert safari. In both cases, authorities banned media reports on the investigations.

Photos: 22-month old girl undergoes successful skull defect surgery in Canada

The 22 month-old girl, Fidelis Muthoni from Makuyu in Murang’a county, Kenya who was suffering from frontal encephalocele underwent a free operation in Toronto, Canada to remove a bone growth on her face.

The Canadian doctors volunteered to operate on her for free when her father Kenneth Kinuthia met them in Kiambu county during a medical camp. Muthoni’s plight was highlighted when the family accused her uncle, Hope Foundation founder Joseph Wanjau, of misappropriating the ticket money.
The family said Wanjau voluntered to raise cash on social media to assist them  but he later withrew the Sh2.8 million raised without their consent which made it impossible for Muthoni to be flown to Canada.

Fortunately, Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta intervened and bought air tickets for mother and child to travel before the appointment was called off.
A Kenyan couple in Toronto – Irene & Joseph Maina – also kindly offered to host Martha & Fidelis for free, for as long as they needed. In addition, Irene who is a nurse by profession took it upon herself to transport the two and attend numerous pre-surgery consultative meetings and tests in preparation for Fidelis’s surgery.

Various reports and individuals have at different times erroneously cited Fidelis’s condition as a tumour. Now that the first surgery has successfully been completed and with help of some reports from her doctors, we can correct that. What Fidelis has is referred to as frontal encephalocele, a skull defect characterized by partial lack of bone fusion leaving a gap through which a portion of the brain protrudes.

These images are a 3D replica of Fidelis’s skull before the surgery. You will notice that she was missing the frontal bone (at the forehead) leaving her brain exposed and hanging on the outside.
The goal therefore of this recently performed surgery, known as anterior cranial vault reconstruction, was to enlarge her skull so that the part of the brain hanging outside could be pushed back in. After successfully doing that, the surgeons then grafted a bone from her skull to cover the opening so that she now has a forehead.

Part of the surgery is done and there remain other complex surgeries which will among other things involve residual cosmetic work that is needed to reconstruct the nose and bring her eyes closer together. Unfortunately, due to Fidelis’s age (22 months) and an infection that developed after this first surgery, subsequent surgeries will have to wait until she is much older.

On January 25, Fidelis was medically cleared by the team at Sick Kids, referred and accepted into the care of two doctors in Kenya: Dr. Bernard Githae, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon at Kenyatta National Hospital and Dr. Peter Wanyoike, a consultant neurosurgeon formerly of KNH and the one in charge of Fidelis’ referral.

Baby and her mother who is expecting her third child in March returned to Kenya on Monday, February 1.
