Owona Suggest Regional Rotation of Power in Cameroon

Fprmer interim FECAFOOT President, Joseph Owona
Fprmer interim FECAFOOT President, Joseph Owona
 – Former minister, Joseph Owona, the man said to have single handedly revised the constitution of Cameroon in 1996, has published a book in which he affirms that for regional balance to exist in Cameroon, there is need for political power rotation from region to region.
Owona’s proposal is similar to an earlier proposal by presidential hopeful Nfor Susungi who has said that for there to be social justice and equality in Cameroon, power should be rotated between the regions.
Susungi is arguing that Francophones have ruled the country for too long, – 55 years, that it is time for Anglophones to rule. But both differ slightly in that Owona rather wants a broadened rotation between the ten administrative regions.
The 107 page book, entitled “Les System politique precoloniaux au Cameroun”, loosely translated as “pre-colonial political systems in Cameroon”, was launched last Friday on the campus of the International Relations Institute of Cameroon, IRIC.
Owona, former university professor holds that regional equality will bridge the inequality gaps created by religious, cultural and geographical differences, especially if all these aspects are considered in appointments into key institutions of the state.
Owona who is also Honorary Chancellor of the University of Yaounde II where he taught public law and political science, holds that the solutions for a new Cameroon, proposed in his book will give the country a Cameroonian way of life.

tanker
According to sources, the explosion, which occurred at 1:20am on Wednesday sent locals fleeing up the Mandara Mountains. The locals are said to have mistook the disaster for a Boko Haram attack.
We gathered the explosion was provoked by an electrical short circuit.
Administrative authorities in the Far North noted that no human casualty was recorded but heavy military artillery and armored vehicles were lost to the frantic flames.
Details of yesterday’s explosion were still sketchy by the time we went to press.
It should be noted that the Multinational Joint Task Force against Boko Haram in Mora is headed by Cameroonian-born Brigadier General Bouba Dobekreo. He took command of the sector on September 11, 2015.
Two other bases of the Multinational Joint Task Force against Boko Haram are in Nigeria and Chad.
The task force was setup to completely wipe out Boko Haram militants and their activities in the Lake Chad basin area.

Sweden plans to expel up to 80,000 asylum-seekers

Sweden intends to expel up to 80,000 migrants who arrived in 2015 and whose application for asylum has been rejected, Interior Minister Anders Ygeman said Wednesday.
"We are talking about 60,000 people but the number could climb to 80,000," the minister was quoted as saying by Swedish media, adding that the government had asked the police and authorities in charge of migrants to organise their expulsion.
The proposed measure was announced as Europe struggles to deal with a crisis that has seen tens of thousands of migrants arrive on Greek beaches, with the passengers -- mostly fleeing conflict in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan -- undeterred by cold wintry conditions.

The UN says more than 46,000 people have arrived in Greece so far this year, with more than 170 people killed making the dangerous crossing.

Ygeman said the expulsions, normally carried out using commercial flights, would have to be done using specially chartered aircraft, given the large numbers, staggered over several years.
Sweden, which is home to 9.8 million people, is one of the European Union countries that has taken in the largest number of refugees in relation to its population. Sweden accepted more than 160,000 asylum seekers last year.

But the number of migrant arrivals has dropped dramatically since Sweden enacted systematic photo ID checks on travellers on January 4.

Swedish officials on Tuesday called for greater security at overcrowded asylum centres a day after the fatal stabbing of an employee at a refugee centre for unaccompanied youths.

The alleged attacker was a young male residing at a centre for youngsters aged 14 to 17 in Molndal near Gothenburg on Sweden's west coast.

The employee was 22-year-old Alexandra Mezher, according to Swedish media reports, whose family was originally from Lebanon. A motive for the attack was not immediately clear.
Her death has led to questions about overcrowded conditions inside some centres, with too few adults and employees to take care of children, many traumatised by war.

In neighbouring Denmark, meanwhile, the government this week approved legislation to seize the valuables of refugees in the hope of limiting the flow of migrants.

Check out this sexy 73 year old mum of 3

Jane Pesch , a 73 year old pensioner with a free bus pass and widowed mum of three is adamant that her age isn’t a barrier to dressing like someone decades younger. To hell with that, is her opinion. “I suppose I should be wearing a comfortable cardigan and some flat, sensible shoes. But where would be the fun in that?” she says.

“I have friends my age who dress more conservatively than I do. They say, ‘I wish I could wear the clothes you wear, Jane’. "But who’s stopping them? There’s no law saying the over-70s have to wear tweed!
“Thirty years ago, my three teenage boys’ friends used to wolf whistle me when I picked them up from school. I was flattered that I still ‘had it’. “So now I’m in my eighth decade, I don’t see why I should fade into the background. I still feel the same as I did back then, so I make every effort to look as young, and as good, as I feel.”

Six years ago, she started having Botox every few months at £300 a session and since then has spent more than £3,000.
Then in 2012, worried about her neck giving away her age, she also treated herself to a £4,000 neck lift, again at Secret Surgery in Poland.
“It tightened up the skin on my neck and meant I could wear the kind of clothes I like to wear, without worrying about wrinkly skin ruining the outfit,” says Jane. “I’m not ashamed to admit I’ve had work done – it’s money well spent.
“When you get to a certain age, it is harder to dazzle, but I don’t mind having a helping hand as things start to droop or sag. I may well have more surgery. I want my mind and body to match.”

Wife of pastor freed from Iran files legal separation, claims he abused her for years

The wife of an American pastor who was imprisoned for nearly four years in Iran filed court documents to legally separate from him the same day he returned home to Idaho - claiming that she has been abused for years.
Saeed Abedini, 35, was one of four Americans released in Iran under a negotiated prisoner exchange on January 16 after being sentenced by an Iranian court in 2013 to eight years in prison. The U.S. agreed to free seven Iranians as part of the exchange.
Abedini returned to Boise on Tuesday and court documents indicate his wife, Naghmeh Panahi, filed a petition for separation the same day.
Naghmeh Abedini was a tireless advocate for her husband's release until November, when she told supporters that he had been an abusive husband and that she planned to step out of the public eye for prayer, fasting and more time with her children.

She also claimed that Abedini, who is a naturalized U.S. citizen, suffered from a pornography addiction, Reuters reported.
In a statement on Facebook, Naghmeh Abedini wrote Wednesday that she had taken 'temporary legal action to make sure our children will stay in Idaho'.
Naghmeh Abedini said that her husband demanded three months ago that she do certain things in order to promote him in the public's eye and threatened to end the marriage if she didn't.
She would not reveal what it was that he allegedly wanted her to do.
'I love my husband, but as some might understand, there are times when love must stop enabling something that has become a growing cancer,' she wrote on Facebook.

Nurse who faked cancer and pocketed $25K in donations arrested

Police arrested a Georgia medical professional who they say for years duped kind-hearted loved ones and strangers into thinking she had Stage IV ovarian cancer to walk away with at least $25,000 in donations, free trips and gifts.

Mary Bennett, 29, spoke of her battle with cancer on social media for years, writing about the things she still wanted to cross off her “bucket list” and thanking friends for their generosity as they donated to her cause, the Forsyth County Sheriff's office told INSIDE EDITION.

The licensed practical nurse's ambitions to live life to the fullest inspired those around Bennett, who officials said was treated to a wide range of experiences financed through fundraisers and gifts.
Trips and experiences included skydiving, a trip to New Orleans, a hot air balloon ride and a trip to Houston, Texas for a supposed medical treatment made possible by a local fundraiser that brought in $4,000, officials said.
“I just wanted to tell you all, thank you! I am so very appreciative for the donations and the orders that people have placed… It's certainly hard going thru cancer at any age. But for this to be the 2nd time in my short 27 years has certainly made me wiser and humbled,” Bennett wrote on a Facebook page created to raise funds for her cause.
Bennett, whose Twitter bio noted she was “a nurse... I’m also an Ovarian Cancer Survivor!” claimed to have been diagnosed with Stage III ovarian cancer in 2013. She wrote on Facebook that she was laid off from her job in August of that year and was struggling to pay her bills.
“I can promise that once I'm better I will pay forward your kind acts through my career as a nurse and through donations,” she wrote. “Again thank you all so much! It truly means the world to me!”
But Bennett had never been diagnosed with cancer, according to officials and that there was no record of her receiving treatment anywhere.
“Her family was completely in the dark. She would go to these doctors and her family would take her, but no one ever actually went in with her. She was not actually having procedures,” Deputy Epifanio Rodriguez with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said.
At one point, Bennett allegedly claimed the cancer had spread to her brain and to her brainstem, he said. She allegedly said that she needed to undergo a special Gamma Knife procedure at the cancer hospital  MD Anderson to battle the four tumors found.
"She went to the extreme and shaved her head, put bandages on her head," Rodriguez said.
She explained away the lack of scars from such procedures by saying "It was a miracle,".
Bennett was charged with misdemeanor theft by taking and felony first-degree forgery, according to reports.
She was hit with the latter charge after she allegedly provided investigators with forged letters from Emory Winship Cancer Institute to prove that she was a patient receiving treatment.
"We found out it was a fraudulent signature," Rodriguez said. "Not only were told 'we never treated her,' but also 'we have no idea who Mary Bennett' is."
Rodriguez said the misdemeanor theft charge could be upgraded to a felony if investigators find more people with proof that they were allegedly victimized by Bennett.
"We've had about a dozen (additional) people call us saying that they were victims," he said. "There's evidence that she was doing this since 2010," he continued. "In the State of Georgia, that is a crime. You cannot deceive people into getting funds from them. It is a crime."

US Muslim man who plotted attack against a temple and Israelis arrested by the FBI

A Milwaukee man arrested on a charge of trying to buy machine guns to carry out an attack on a Masonic temple also wanted to travel to the Middle East and kill Israelis but abandoned that plan as unworkable, federal agents said in court documents.
Federal prosecutors charged 23-year-old Samy Mohamed Hamzeh on Tuesday with unlawfully possessing a machine gun and receiving and possessing firearms not registered to him.

The FBI recorded conversations between Hamzeh and two federal informants talking about an attack on a Masonic temple in Milwaukee, according to an affidavit setting out the evidence against Hamzeh.

He and the two informants traveled to a gun range on Jan. 19 and practiced with a pistol, the affidavit said. Afterward they took a tour of a Masonic temple, which federal authorities declined to identify.
Masons are members of a fraternal organization that carries out a variety of activities, including charity work. Wisconsin has nearly 11,000 Masons in 180 lodges, according to Frank Struble, grand master of Free and Accepted Masons in Wisconsin. The organization is not a religion.

According to the affidavit, agents were tipped off in September that Hamzeh planned to travel to Israel in October to attack Israeli soldiers and citizens in the West Bank. He abandoned those plans due to "family, financial and logistic reasons," the affidavit said, but refocused his efforts on a domestic attack.

Federal agents said that on Jan. 19 and into the early morning of Jan. 20, Hamzeh discussed his plans to attack the temple with the informants, telling them they needed two more machine guns — the group apparently already had one — and silencers. They planned to station one person at the temple's entrance while the other two went through the building, killing everyone they saw. They then planned to walk away from the scene as if nothing had happened, the affidavit said.
"I am telling you, if this hit is executed, it will be known all over the world ... all the Mujahedeen will be talking and they will be proud of us," Hamzeh said, according to the affidavit.
Hamzeh added that he hoped to kill 30 people, "because these 30 will terrify the world."
According to the affidavit, Hamzeh met with two undercover FBI agents Monday. They presented him with two automatic machine guns and a silencer. He paid for the weapons and silencer in cash and put them in the trunk of his car, the affidavit said. The agents then arrested him and recovered the guns and silencer.

Hamzeh had been fired recently from his job as a trainer at a downtown Milwaukee gym, said Delia Luna, the owner of the9Round Kickbox Fitness. She said he was "very intense, very militant" as a trainer.
"He didn't mix well," Luna said.

Outrage as white actor plays Michael Jackson in new TV Comedy

Joseph Fiennes, a British actor best known for his leading role in Shakespeare in Love, has been cast as Michael Jackson in a new half-hour TV comedy about an unconfirmed road trip the singer reportedly took with Elizabeth Taylor and Marlon Brando following the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
A rep for production company Sky Arts confirmed the news on Wednesday, adding that the project is titled Elizabeth, Michael & Marlon but many people are freaking out about Fiennes' casting because, he's white.
"A White Actor will play MJ. Because we aren't whitewashed enough in Hollywood, apparently," read a tweet posted on BET's Twitter page Wednesday.
Legendary King of Pop, Michael Jackson who died in 2009 at the age of 50 suffered from the skin condition vitiligo and starting in the late '80s, he began to look paler and paler. Investigators found 30 tubes of skin whitening cream at his home after his death.
The casting news comes amid recent criticism aimed at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences over the lack of diversity among the nominees of this year's Oscars.

Screenwriter Neil Forsyth tweeted Wednesday the project has been filmed and is set to be released in the U.K. "soon."

University student commits suicide after finding out she had bad exam results

20 year old a Samantha Macdonald, a student of the University of Salford jumped to her death from her hall of residence (pictured above) after finding out her exam results weren't good enough to follow her dream of becoming a research scientist. She told friends she wanted to get a first-class degree as part of her life's ambition to make a difference as a top scientist, but the human biology undergraduate was left devastated after receiving a 2:2 in her second-year exams which she feared were not good enough.

Ms McDonald after a night out clubbing with friends jumped from her student apartment at the University, a security guard tried to revive her but she died from multiple injuries. After her death, police found a diary which contained a list of Ms MacDonald's likes, dislikes and ambitions. It included the intention to complete a PhD, to find a cure for diabetes and to 'make a difference' in the world.

Her housemate and coursemate Emma Reid, who went out with Ms MacDonald on the night she died, said that she rarely noticed anything troubling her friend.  Her father also said that she had never spoke of feeling depressed and that her family tried to encourage her as much as possible:
''She was always a very hard-working girl but she never really got the grades that reflected her studies,' he said. 'She had a very strong interest in science and wanted to make a change in the world. She could not wait to get back to university as she had a good social life and enjoyed seeing her friends. 'As far as we were aware she was very focused on completing her degree and working in science afterwards. We were so proud that she was making new friends and a life and a future for herself at university", he said.
"She has never mentioned to us that she was feeling low or depressed and she has not given any indication to any of her family that she was feeling low or that she wanted to harm herself in any way.' He added that the letters written to the family suggested she had intended to commit suicide. 'In one letter she says she had written the letter 100 times. I don't know if she intended doing this at the start of the night but maybe the reason she got drunk is maybe to go through with it. 'One of the letters said she had been hiding her depression from us", he said.
Her house mate revealed that after they partied, they got a taxi back to their block of flats and were laughing and joking until Miss Reid went to bed at 4am. But, shortly afterwards, another flatmate Jasmin Lodge, who was up early to attend a nursing placement, heard movement from Ms MacDonald's room followed by commotion outside the flats. She arrived downstairs at 5.40am to find a security guard giving Ms MacDonald chest compressions while awaiting paramedics.
