Excerpts from the Vogue.com Feature/Interview with Alex Frank
Do you wear a lot of traditional Nigerian clothes?
Wizkid: When I’m back home, all I wear is African fabric. All I really rock is the traditional stuff. That’s the in thing right now. That’s really coming back. Back in the day, our parents used to wear it every day, and they still do, but now it’s cool for wee young ones to wear it. It’s amazing. We’re doing it differently. We’re having it a little bit more fitted. We have styles on it, embroideries and stuff, by local people, made by hand, designed on it.
How would you describe Lagos style?
Wizkid: Lagos style is fresh and different. Even with the tailors, they get very innovative with their stuff, with the cuts. When my parents used to make the traditional wares, it was a little bit baggy. But now the tailors are able to infuse the European style, making it slim-fit. Lagos style is different, man. Innovative.
And tailors are everything in Nigeria.
One hundred percent. The clothes I make back home are proper—properly fitted. Proper, proper. Tailors are A1 back home.

What’s your process when you get something made for you?
Wizkid: I design everything myself, and I get them to make it. I do a little sketch; sometimes I just sit down with a tailor and describe what I want. Sometimes we go back and forth, like, for days, trying to get it right. Sometimes it’ll take a day to make it, sometimes three, four days. I have a lot of tailors. If I want something made in 12 hours, it will be made in 12 hours.
What kind of clothes did you love growing up?
Wizkid: Growing up in Lagos, I wasn’t fortunate enough to get the fresh stuff when it was new. There was this place we used to go to find stuff that had been shipped from America, like secondhand clothes. I used to rock a lot of Reebok, just a lot of sporty stuff.
Now you can get the expensive shit.
Wizkid: We thank God!
I notice that you’re almost never seen without a pair of sunglasses. How many do you own?
Wizkid: Oh, wow. That’s hard for me. I buy sunglasses every time I travel, just pick up a pair at the airport. Ray-Bans are my favorite. They’re ready to go. And I lose them every time. My friends take them away from me, but I love it.
Did I see on Instagram that you met Christian Louboutin?
Wizkid: Yeah! And I have a lot of his shoes. I rock everything from high-end fashion to skateboard stuff. We were just at the store getting some shoes, and he walked in. And I was like, That’s the guy! Like, Oh, you owe me some checks, boss.
What do you like about his shoes?
Wizkid: The shoes are comfortable and fashionable. I can rock them for my shows or just chilling.
I notice you love a bright, colorful shoe.
Well, I’m actually doing white right now. But I like colorful shoes because most of the time I wear black, so I want it to be where my shoes are popping. I’m wearing Harrods shoes right now.
Everything is super-clean with you.
Fresh, fresh, fresh. That’s how I like to keep it. It’s hard for me to wear the same thing twice.

You’re also not afraid to wear really skinny jeans.
Wizkid: No, I’m not afraid to wear skinny jeans! Yeah, I don’t care, man. I rock skinny jeans!
What’s your closet situation like?
Wizkid: It’s mad. I have my little cousins in my house all the time taking my stuff.

Would you ever do your own clothing line?
Wizkid: I’m hoping to release a clothing line after my EP, planned for April. It’s going to be tracksuits, T-shirts, hats, and African attire as well. I’ll have a special line for traditional [clothes] with my tailors. Taking Africa to the world.
It’s important to you to do this for Africa.
Yeah, it’s a lot of responsibility. Even for my T-shirts, I’m having the real African prints used as the design on them. I’m getting them locally made in the villages in Nigeria. The proper, proper materials.

Ojuelegba is the name of a neighborhood, right? Why is it important to you to shout out where you’re from?
Wizkid: Ojuelegba is where I grew up. It’s crazy, rough, tough. That’s what built me into what I am today. The streets of Lagos are definitely different from anywhere else in the world. Making it out of there is just madness. You have to experience it. You have kids on the street hawking, just the hustle and bustle. If you stay in the car and drive past Ojuelegba, you will feel the vibe and you will feel the hustle. It’s a very, very, very, very important place to me, because it’s where one of the studios I started recording is [located]. I was there every day of my life for like three, four, five years.

Where do you live now? Are you clubbing? Is Lagos the place to be?
Wizkid: I live in Lekki now. There are new clubs popping up every day. We go to places like Escape, Sip, and it’s madness. December is the craziest time to be in Lagos. I just left there, so I’m pretty exhausted from going hard. Africa is the next thing right now. Talking fashion, music, anything—Africa is on top of all that.

Drogba defends Serge Aurier who was suspended over homophobic abuse against coach Blanc
Former Ivory Coast captain, Didier Drogba has defended suspended Serge Aurier claiming the Paris Saint-Germain defender had been treated unfairly over his ban for abusing coach Laurent Blanc.
The 23-year-old Ivory Coast International was suspended by his club last Sunday after being caught on the social media video site Periscope verbally abusing PSG boss Blanc. He also took aim at several team-mates including striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. His suspension ruled him out of his team's 2-1 win over Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday.
In a post on Twitter on Wednesday, the Montreal Impact striker complained that Aurier's treatment for directing homophobic abuse against Blanc amounted to double standards.
Although Aurier has since apologized for his rant, Drogba said he believed the reaction to the Ivory Coast international's comments had been excessive.
"I don't often comment on these things but the way my little brother @serge-aurier has been treated over the past few days has really upset me so I feel the need to say something," Drogba said.
"Yes he made a mistake, yes he said things he should not have said, but we have all made mistakes, players (myself included), coaches, managers, referees, club presidents, even the fans!
"Even the people saying he should be 'put in jail'.... how can young players learn from their mistakes if they are not given the proper support and advice?
"Should we not be educating younger players on how to behave, preparing them for a world where social media can make or break your career?
"Or are we simply pointing the finger and banning some players but not others? Which simply achieves nothing... Bon courage mon frere. #justiceadeuxvitesses'".
World Cup-winning former France defender Blanc was unimpressed by a subsequent apology from Aurier.
"Lots of people in this new generation spend their time apologising. Rather than do that they should think more before they do anything," he said.

Photos: A family outing to watch thunderstorm turns into tragedy as mother & her 3 children are swept away
The children, Moza, 11, Mansour, 6, and their three-year-old brother Fazaa, were buried at a cemetery in Wadi Mai yesterday along with their mother, Amna Al Jabiri, who also drowned.
The three youngsters had joined their mother and father, Ali Al Kindi, to watch the thunderstorm that was lashing rural areas in the south of Ras Al Khaimah.
The family had left their home at Wadi Mai at about 3pm and drove to the Wadi Al Qor valley. But their car was caught up in fast-moving flood waters.
As the car filled with water, the family scrambled out through the sunroof, but the children were swept away by the torrent.
Police were able to locate the car with help from residents. The children’s bodies were recovered hours later after a search. Moza’s body was found at 11 that evening. The body of her brother Mansour was found at 3.30am on Thursday and Fazaa three hours later.
Amna, who had three other children, had already been found and taken to Al Munaiey Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 7pm. Relatives yesterday told of their shock and grief.
Rashed Al Kindi said he received a call from his brother-in-law Ali at 5pm to tell them his wife and children had drowned.
"The incident was shocking. Ali was crying and saying his wife had passed away and they couldn’t find the children. We took off right away to Wadi Al Qor to be beside Ali and to help with the search," said Mr Al Kindi.
"They went to see the hail and left their other three children at home. The car engine stopped working at a point in the middle of the valley where more than one water stream crosses.
"The water filled the car and they jumped from the roof of the car. The water was running fast and they were swept away by the current.
"Ali latched on to a tree branch to try to save his family but he couldn’t."
Mayed, 18, Zayed, 16 and Haza, 15, are being cared for by their relatives.

Van Gaal blames 'Law of Murphy' after Man U lose to Danish club that haven't played since December
Man U coach Louis Van Gaal blamed the 'Law of Murphy' after his team lost 2-1 to Danish club FC Midtjylland last night in the Europa League. Murphy's law is shorthand for the phrase 'anything that can go wrong, will go wrong'.
"The fans can criticise," said the Manchester United manager. "When you see the second half, then maybe they are right. We have to improve and then maybe the fans shall support us again. We have seen that in the 18 months I have been here."
United currently have 14 players including David De Gea and Wayne Rooney on the treatment table.
"The fans can criticise," said the Manchester United manager. "When you see the second half, then maybe they are right. We have to improve and then maybe the fans shall support us again. We have seen that in the 18 months I have been here."
"It is the Law of Murphy," said Van Gaal. "When you have a list of 13 injured players and then a few minutes before the game you add another one to the list, then it becomes very difficult to cope. We have to cope with a list of 14 injured players and that is not easy. I now have to make a different line-up every week and that is not contributing to our confidence.".
"I have to say that in the second half Midtjylland were winning every second ball," he said. "That is very disappointing because we knew in advance that this is the key to the game. Then they scored and it was a little bit unnecessary in my opinion."
Midtjylland, who haven't played a competitive game since December, a club formed in 1999,the same year United were celebrating winning the premier league, champions league and F.A Cup showed more zeal and determination to win the game than Man United and have been rewarded with a slight advantage heading into the second leg at Old Trafford."I have to say that in the second half Midtjylland were winning every second ball," he said. "That is very disappointing because we knew in advance that this is the key to the game. Then they scored and it was a little bit unnecessary in my opinion."

Police presense reported at P-Square's home
Some folks on Twitter are tweeting that there's police presence at P-Square's home in Omole Phase I this morning. They claim it has to do with an angry client stormed their home with police after the singing brothers allegedly didn't show up to perform at a show they had been paid for. Well, considering the conflict between the brothers presently, this is not surprising...though all this info is unconfirmed. I called the group's publicist and he promised to get back to me with what's going on
JUSTIN BIEBER I'M ADOPTING ANOTHER PRIMATE ... Monkey Org Goes Ape
Justin Bieber has been called "foolish" and "irresponsible" by a monkey protection organization that is indignant over his vow to adopt another pet primate.
Bieber now says "monkeys are awesome" and he wants another one, with this proviso ... "Just gotta make sure I got a house and it stays in the f***ing house ... I'm not gonna bring him to Germany."
The Deutschland reference ... in 2013 he took his monkey, Mally, to Germany where customs officials confiscated it after Bieber didn't have the proper documents. He never tried retrieving it.
Now the North American Primate Sanctuary Alliance is lashing out, warning Biebs getting another primate "will prove dangerous to both you and your monkey, as well as irresponsible when it comes to your public following."
The org pleads, "Please do not repeat this foolish endeavor."
NAPSA wants the word out that monkeys carry disease and turn hostile when owners try to domesticate them, telling Bieber, "It is simply not possible to fulfill the unique needs of your monkey within a private home."
And that says it all.
FRENCH FOREIGN MINISTER SLAMS OBAMA OVER LACK OF LEADERSHIP IN MIDDLE EAST
The United States is coming under increasingly bitter criticism for its perceived lack of leadership over Syria as the country’s brutal civil conflict heads toward new levels of intensity.
Washington appears unable or unwilling to prevent its ally Turkey from bombing Kurdish fighters inside Syria, its critics say. And it has done little to rein in Russia’s mounting military involvement on behalf of Bashar al-Assad.
In the eyes of his detractors, President Barack Obama is guilty of refusing to engage in Syria by doing exactly what he said he would do when he was elected in 2008: pulling America out of Middle Eastern wars, after the Iraq debacle, and “pivot” US foreign policy towards Asia.
A pointed attack came Tuesday from France, where few have forgotten Obama’s last-minute refusal to take action against Syria in 2013 after evidence surfaced that the government used chemical weapons against civilians.
“Obama had said, ‘If he uses chemical weapons, it will cross a red line,” former Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said Tuesday on Europe 1 Radio. “And that red line was crossed with no reaction.”
“When the history books are written, we’ll see that this was a turning point, not only in the Middle East crisis but also for Ukraine, Crimea and the entire world,” Fabius had said earlier this month, adding that he regretted the “ambiguities” and “lack of very strong engagement” Washington has demonstrated with respect to Syria.
After the bombing of hospitals and other civilian targets around the northern Syrian city of Aleppo on Monday, the State Department only bemoaned the “continued brutality of the Assad regime against its own people” and questioned Russia’s “willingness” to put a stop to it.
For Jonathan Schanzer of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies in Washington, that simply wasn’t enough.
“Historians will one day look back at our archives and wonder what we thought we’d accomplish with such statements,” Schanzer tweeted Tuesday.
The White House has dismissed the accusations of inaction.
Nathalie Koah being sued by Franco-Ivorian singer, Teeyah
If you have read Nathalie Koah's new book, "Revenge Porn" and have a photographic memory for the "nasty" like I do then you are aware that on page 42 Nathalie sexually linked Franco-Ivorian singer, Teeyah, and Samuel Eto'o.
…I ran and took the lift. On coming out of the lift, I saw a young lady leaving the room of Samuel very fast. I knew her, it’s Teeyah, a Franco-Ivorian Zouk singer who is very famous in French Africa. I turned my eyes and saw the footballer almost naked, wearing only boxers at the door frame. His smile betrayed the way he feltashamed. He was not expecting me to come up so fast. In fact, he never wanted me to assist at the precipitated departure of his guest. You have to be naive or stupid for not knowing what just happened here.
Teeyah is anything but pleased with Nathalie Koah for dragging her into her mess with Samuel Eto'o and insinuating that she had sex with the international footballer. The zouk singer has filed a complaint in Paris against Nathalie Koah for moral harassment, defamation, and false accusations.
Photos: At least 73 people killed after a bus collided with a truck in Ghana
A bus hit a cargo truck north of Ghana's second city Kumasi overnight, killing at least 73 people on Wednesday evening.
The head-on crash, which left 13 people seriously injured, occurred 420km north of the capital Accra when a Metro Mass Transit coach bound for the northern town of Tamale from the city of Kumasi hit a truck loaded with boxes of tomatoes, regional police chief Maxwell Atingane said.
"Many of the passengers on the bus died on the spot,"Atingane said.
A witness said the scene was "pathetic and gory" with passengers trapped in the bus wreckage.
"There were human bodies strewn around," said George Blah, a resident.
Several of the passengers with severed body parts were trapped in the mangled bus as the locals struggled to cut the vehicles to retrieve the dead and those alive.
The locals who had to resort to chainsaws to cut the bus in order to reach the trapped passengers believe all the occupants of the Metro Mass perished.
Atingane said initial reports suggested a mechanical failure on the bus caused the accident but police were investigating.
Bismark Owusu Fosu, medical director at the Kintampo hospital, said some of the injured had been evacuated by air for treatment in Kumasi, Ghana's second city.
Don’t Be Deceived To Seek Re-election, Biya Warned
The erstwhile Secretary General of the Social Democratic Front, SDF, Prof. Elizabeth Tamajong, has warned President Paul Biya not to be deceived by the pretentious calls of power mongers to seek re-election.
Prof. Tamajong sounded the note of warning in Yaounde on February 16, while reacting to President Biya’s Youth Day address. According to her, man is a political animal, reason why some CPDM militants want their Chairman to remain in office.
“I sincerely think that, no matter how ferocious the calls may be, if he knows, from the depth of his heart that he doesn’t have the physical strength to continue to rule Cameroon, then he should not give in.
“He is Paul, the Biblical conversion from Saul. I know he cares for Cameroon and for him to truly go down in history as somebody who brought democracy to Cameroon as he claims, he should think carefully because the calls for him to stand are from self-centred and ego-inflated individuals. It is not because they really want him there, for once he falls, there will be a deadly scramble. So, he should take a wise decision for the benefit of Cameroon,” Prof. Tamajong stated.
She said there are former world Presidents who are living in peace because they respected the Constitution of their countries, organised free, fair and transparent elections and left power.
The former SDF Scribe said such Heads of State still enjoy amenities and salaries offered by the State. “Goodluck Jonathan organised elections and left power as a hero. President Biya will forever be remembered and honoured, if he were to bow out today,” Prof. Tamajong stated.
The Director of the National Education Centre in the Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation, urged Biya to continue to work relentlessly for the remaining period of his manadate.
“He should not fall into the temptation of modifying the Constitution to precipitate elections. Instead, let him strengthen the democratic institutions; make ELECAM truly independent and credible and leave on a clean slate. The institution of a single ballot at elections, which the President is very much aware, should be part of the electoral reform. Let biometrics be from registration through voting to the declaration of results for the sake of transparency and peace as it obtains in other countries,” Tamajong further stated.
Meanwhile, in reaction to Biya’s 2016 Youth Day speech, Prof. Tamajong said the call to reform the education sector, agriculture and the new information and communication technology caught her attention. According to her, in the early 1960s, late Dr. John Ngu Foncha, repeatedly told young people that it is only the cultivation of the soil that will never fail them.
“Crops from the farm will provide food and income for your wellbeing,” she quoted Foncha. To her, if Biya had paid tribute to Foncha and the forefathers in his speech to the young people, it would have been a plus to him.
She said in the West Cameroon days, agriculture was part of the education policy, where all the schools were obliged to own gardens. “We were taught on how to make compost manure even in the primary school, make crafts of all sorts and the creation of the technical school in Ombe and agricultural and veterinary schools was to harness this.
But today, when homework is given in school, we the parents go to the market and buy the items for the children to take to school. All these kill initiative and the creative direction children could take in life. So, we must change our mindset and mentality.
“For farming to take roots, schools must be ready to include weekly farming practicals on their timetables and showcase their agricultural products during competitions. Children must be taught to understand that the richest people in the world today are those engaged in agriculture. They should not be falsely misled that farming is for the poor and dirty in society.
“The idea of green revolution started in former West Cameroon. So the President cannot be talking today without paying tribute to it and behaving as if nothing happened during the days of late Ahidjo and Foncha,” she held.
On how the FCFA 102 billion announced by the President could be better distributed to help young Cameroonians, Tamajong said it will be a failure if the resources are placed again in the hands of Yaounde bureaucrats.
She proposed that local Councils, which are close to the people and know the reality on the ground, should be given the opportunity to identify young people and groups that could deliver in the rural areas.
Limbe City Council Fights CONAC With Bulldozer
Limbe City Council employees on Monday, February 15, 2016 used a caterpillar to prevent the National Anti-corruption Commission, CONAC, team from carting away official documents (files) to Yaounde, which were considered dirty.
The council employees blocked the head of the CONAC team, Hon. Norbert Mbile, from taking away the documents. It was a little after 11:00am when Hon. Mbile and his team wound up their two weeks investigation atthe City Council and were about to take off when their vehicleswere blocked from driving out. The CONAC team had arrived at City Council on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 to begin what wasdescribed by themedia as a routine control mission.
As the story goes, Mbile and his team drove into the premises of the Limbe City Council about mid-morning, just moments after Police Commissioner Ewungemearrived. The Post gathered that the CONAC team asked for documents for every contract the council has given out between 2010 and 2015; minutes of council sessions and other financial transactions the council carried out within the same period.
On Monday, February 15, 2016 the team handed to the Secretary General of the Council, Charles ArreyNkongho, an inventory of all the documents they had been given. Trouble started when Mbile and his team informed the Secretary General that they were taking away the documents to Yaounde. But ArreyNkonghois said to have objected on grounds that CONCAC could not take away the original copies of their documents to Yaounde.
He reportedly proposed that the team take photocopies and leave the originals but Mbile and his team refused. While the argument was going on in Arrey’s office, one of the CONAC vehicles that had most of the documents in question drove out of the council premises.
An employee is said to have rushed and informed the Secretary General, who ordered that the second vehicle be blocked from moving. The council employees then positioned a caterpillar across the main entrance into the yard. The argument that followed brought out the Government Delegate, Andrew Motanga.
All attempts by the Government Delegate to cause the CONAC team to cave in failed. The supervisory authority of the council, Fako SDO, Zang III, was called to intervene to no avail. Eventually, CONAC took away all the council’s documents in its possession. The CONAC drive came on the heels of the Government Delegate’s warning to his workers on Friday, February 12, 2016 Motanga had warned the workers against acts of corruption, laziness and indiscipline. “If we have to achieve our objectives of making Limbe the city of our dreams, we need workers who can stay away from corruption, late coming, absenteeism and personal interest,”Motanga had said. It would be recalled that on May 16 breaking 17, 2014; thieves broke into the Limbe City Council and carted away FCFA 30 million.
The thieves stroke the Council safe, the Government Delegate’s office and Secretariat, the Secretary General’s office and the Credit Union safe where the aforementioned sum was collected. Journalists who got to the Council premises that morning were tactfully dismissed by the Secretary General on grounds that a press conference will be organised to explain what happened.
He further said no news about the incident should be aired, since the visiting delegation from CAF was in town for the first inspection of the Limbe Omnisport Stadium. Nkongho had argued that if the robbery incident was broadcast to the hearing of the CAF officials, it would mar the chances of Cameroon winning the hosting bid.
The local stations stayed mute. Cameroon went on to win the bid. But, since then, neither the press conference nor a word had ever been uttered by the council official about what happened to the people’s money in their keeping.
The SDO of Fako, has never questioned what happened. The theft was simply swept under the rugs, a foothold stomped on it and lips have remained sealed over it. Perhaps the CONAC team will help find out what happened to the people’s money.
Obese Woman sheds 4 and half stone to land her high school crush
28-year old Cheyanne Lent took drastic measures to lose weight after being turned down by her high school crush, she has revealed. When she was 15 she met her high school crush while at a church group meeting but because of her plump figure, he didn't date her.
She told The New York Post:
“I was scared to put my heart on the line. I really liked him, but I thought I should probably date someone more on my level. He was my ‘what if?’ Every couple months we would reconnect and have amazing conversations,” she says.
“My dream was to have him come out to LA, reveal myself to him and do the cheesy ‘Bachelor’ ride on a motorcycle along the Pacific Coast Highway at sunset.”
