According to sources, the explosion, which occurred at 1:20am on Wednesday sent locals fleeing up the Mandara Mountains. The locals are said to have mistook the disaster for a Boko Haram attack.
We gathered the explosion was provoked by an electrical short circuit.
Administrative authorities in the Far North noted that no human casualty was recorded but heavy military artillery and armored vehicles were lost to the frantic flames.
Details of yesterday’s explosion were still sketchy by the time we went to press.
It should be noted that the Multinational Joint Task Force against Boko Haram in Mora is headed by Cameroonian-born Brigadier General Bouba Dobekreo. He took command of the sector on September 11, 2015.
Two other bases of the Multinational Joint Task Force against Boko Haram are in Nigeria and Chad.
The task force was setup to completely wipe out Boko Haram militants and their activities in the Lake Chad basin area.
