The actions of 22-year-old Alex Ruiz surely must have restored someone's faith in humanity. An unidentified, disabled, customer with no hands walked into the Cinco De Mayo Mexican grill restaurant in Douglasville, Georgia where he is a waiter and asked him for help. Alex sat down with the man for 30mins and fed him his entire meal.
Reginald Widener, a regular customer who was touched by the act of kindness took pictures and posted it to Facebook. He wrote:
'So I'm at Cinco de Mayo and Alex, the server, had a man come in with no hands. So Alex is now helping the man eat his lunch. This seriously hit me right in the soul. Still good people in the world,' he wrote.
Reginald said he shared the picture to remind people that 'there's people who have a worse situation dealing with more [stuff] than you do day-to-day'.
'The world needs more people to be positive. Alex had a smile on his face the entire time. He didn't complain about it; it looked like he really cared,' he said
Crystal Figueroa, 24, whose father is the manager of the restaurant and is Alex's co-worker at Cinco de Mayo, said she's not surprised by the 22-year-old's actions.
While Alex has been praised by his coworkers and other people, he says he only did what was right and he's happy he did it.'He sat with him until he was finished eating. He patiently waited for him to finish his meal,' she said. 'He's a great person. He's always so nice, and the fact that he just came out of nowhere and helped a man he doesn't even know have a meal says everything. 'That just shows the person that he is,' Crystal said.
