Julius Agwu is one comedian that has recorded success as a musician and a comedian. Agwu’s music-comedy album released in 2000 Okombo was a hit.
He has released two more albums with popular songs like My Style, Handwork, When Will You Marry.
Agwu’s annual comedy event Laff for Christ Sake and Crack Your Ribs are also crowd pulling.
Julius Agwu recently survived a brain surgery after which he rededicated himself to God. He has since hit the studio to record a song titled Second Chance.
Aside standup comedy and singing, the University of Port Harcourt graduate of theatre arts is also a good actor.
2. Basketmouth:
Bright Okpocha who is popularly known as Basketmouth is one of the biggest comedians in Nigeria. Basketmouth started his entertainment career as a rapper artist in the rap group called The Psychopaths. In the early 2000s, he featured in Nutty Pin’s Living It Up.
Though he is concentrating more on standup comedy lately, Basketmouth has released singles like Where I’m From featuring Rukus and Where You Dey.
3. Akpororo:
Born Jephta Bowoto, Akpororo, is a member of the Ojo Mass Choir. He also organizes annual music program tagged Ojo Mega Praise Jam. He has recorded many gospel music videos which have gone viral on Youtube including his Days of Elijah series.
The recently married comedian also leads live worship bands and performs at events when he is not doing standup comedy. He has his own comedy and music concert titled ‘Akpororo VS Akpororo’ which has turned out to be a success since he started it.
4. Koffi:
Koffi Idowu Nuel simply known as Koffi is a graduate of Chemistry from the University of Lagos. Kofi started acting while he was in the university despite studying chemistry. Koffi has over 3 music albums which include COMfusion, Abinibility and Workerman movement. He has also won awards such as ‘Best use of Animation’ in a music video at the NMVAs and Best Music Comedian at the NNAC.
