Rima Fakih was the first Muslim to win the Miss USA competition when she was crowned the winner in 2010. Now, the former beauty queen has converted to Christianity. It is believed she converted last month in preparation for her marriage in Lebanon next week to a wealthy Christian music producer, Wassim Salibi.

When she won Miss USA she admitted she only became a Muslim when she got into college. She said:
"I'd like to say I'm American first, and I am an Arab-American, I am Lebanese-American, and I am Muslim-American." According to the news site Albawaba, Fakih only connected to her Muslim roots in college.
"When I went to the University of Michigan, because there's more of a Muslim community, my dad wanted me to learn more about Islam," she said. "I didn't know much about Ramadan and other holidays, and my dad wanted me to take that opportunity and learn."

Dad punched, kicked and stabbed their pet dog as it bit his son to death

A 22 year old civil engineer, Liam Hewitson who was having an epileptic attack was mauled to death by his own dog. According to Liam's girlfriend, Jessica Hill, the dog had attacked him 2 previous times in the past when he had epileptic attacks and she had begged him to get rid of the pitbull cross, called Trigger but he refused saying he loved the dog too much to get rid of him. She said she is heartbroken that the dog killed him this third time it tried.
She said in a statement to the inquest:
“I asked him to get rid of the dog because of the way it had behaved but he refused. He said he loved it too much to get rid of it.”
Liam's father, Phil Hewitson explained how he tried in vain to save his son form their pet dog. He told an inquest that he punched, kicked and even stabbed the dog in a desperate attempt to loosen its grip on the throat of his son Liam to no avail.

The inquest at Preston was told Liam was having an epileptic fit at his home in Preston when he was attacked by the dog he had raised from a puppy

He said he was upstairs in his bedroom when he heard the commotion downstairs and ran into the kitchen to see what was going on.
He said:
“I could see the dog had bit him and then come off him. As I shouted to the dog to get away it pounced back onto him.
“I was kicking, hitting it, doing anything I could just to get it off him, but to no avail. I stabbed the dog and, after a second, it ran off. But it had already done the damage".

His Dad said by the time the dog let go off Liam's neck, he had suffered catastrophic injuries to the blood vessels in his neck and to his windpipe. Liam lost so much blood that by the time the  paramedics arrived, they were unable to save him.

Detective Inspector Jane Webb, who investigated the death, said there was “no criminal element” to the incident on New years Day.

Consultant pathologist Dr Jacob Joseph said Liam's death was due to injuries to the neck and trachea caused by a dog bite.
He said:
“Liam suffered from epilepsy and whilst having a fit his own dog bit him in the neck and face. He had difficulty breathing and couldn’t be resuscitated."
Phil Hewitson said:

“I have thought a lot about this since and why Trigger might have done that. I think the dog was thinking it was trying to help him while he was having the fit by picking him up by the neck and taking him away from that spot.
“I knew from the bite and all the blood loss that the dog had basically killed him. I know there was nothing we could have done. It was very traumatic. “Liam really loved that dog. It was the first one he’d had and he took him everywhere with him.”

Woman arrested after spending millions on designer bags after £2.3m was mistakenly deposited into her account

A woman, Christine Jiaxin Lee, from Malaysia has been arrested after she spent millions on luxury items including designer bags when £2.3 million was mistakenly transferred into her bank account.

She received the money into her Westpac bank account as an overdraft four years ago and has been 'living the life' since.
According to Nine News, Lee allegedly spent £1.7 million in less than a year when she bought designer handbags and made cash transfers.

The girl who is also a chemical engineering student, was arrested by the Australian Federal Police at Sydney Airport on Wednesday night and according to the report she still owes about £1.7million to the bank.

Lee appeared at Waverley Local Court on Thursday where she was charged with 'dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception and knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime'.

According to the court, police were aware of the withdrawal of the money in 2012, but they only issued the arrest warrant on March 4 this year, but the girl's lawyer said she didn't spend the money illegally, and spent majority of the funds on designer handbags.

She will appear at  the Downing Centre Local court on June 21.

UK mosques ban Muslim women from wearing trousers, leaving home without husband's permission, orders them to close FB accts

Muslim women must not leave the house without their husband’s permission, should avoid wearing trousers and should even delete their Facebook accounts, according to rulings published by mosques and Islamic associations around Britain.

The Green Lane Masjid in Birmingham said that women were not allowed to wear trousers, even in front of their husbands, while the Central Masjid of Blackburn called Facebook a 'sin' and an 'evil'.
One Islamic organisation also stated that Muslim women should not leave the house without their husband's permission and should not travel more than 48miles without their husband.

An article entitled 'Dangers of Facebook' was published on the Central Masjid of Blackburn's website which stated that: 'Facebook has opened the doors for sin. Muslim girls and women alike have become prey to this evil.'
In a Q&A, one Muslim asked the Green Lane Masjid in Birmingham if women could wear jeans. Citing an Islamic scholar, the reply was that women were not permitted to wear trousers, even in front of their husband, as they show off 'the details of her body'.

A document written by a mufti at the Croydon Mosque and Islamic Centre, entitled 'Advice for the husband and wife', also stated: 'A woman should seek her husband's permission when leaving the house and should not do so without his knowledge.'
In another article, the mosque calls abortion 'a great sin' and describes acting and modelling as 'immoral acts'.

Woman arrested 4 years after $4.6m was wrongly transferred into her bank account (photos)

What would you do if someone mistakenly transfers $4.6 million in your account? A 21-year-old woman who was arrested at Sydney Airport trying to flee the country allegedly spent millions on handbags and luxury goods after $4.6 million was mistakenly transferred into her bank account four years ago.

Christine Jiaxin Lee was mistakenly transferred the money into her Westpac bank account as an overdraft four years ago when she was just 17, Daily Mail reports.

The chemical engineering student, who was attempting to flee to Malaysia when she was picked up by Australian Federal Police at Sydney Airport on Wednesday night, still allegedly owes $3.3 million to her bank.
She allegedly purchased 'luxury items' while taking advantage of the mistakenly extended overdraft.

Court documents revealed she is alleged to have committed the offences on multiple occasions between July 2014 and March 2015. It is alleged she failed to notify the bank that she was not entitled to the money.

The court heard she knew police were attempting to make contact with her and she obtained an emergency Malaysian passport in order to leave the country. The woman, who has lived in Australia for five years, lives with her boyfriend at Rhodes in Sydney's north-west.

Outrage over picture of three-year-old boy allegedly 'snorting cocaine'

Her daughter, who uploaded the photo, says the family joke around with taking photos like the controversial image often.
